This year nature surprised us. After a mild spring and a summer marked by ideal temperature swings, the 2024 harvest looks set to be one of the most balanced in decades for our winery in Valpolicella.
The rhythm of the land
We began the harvest in mid-September, starting with the white grape varieties to preserve their freshness and acidity. August's dry weather allowed for perfect phenolic ripening, avoiding the water stress that often characterizes hotter vintages.
Every cluster was hand-selected, as is our tradition, to ensure that only the best reaches the cellar. This year the Corvina and Rondinella show excellent sugar concentration combined with an aromatic complexity rarely found at such an early stage.
Hand selection and natural drying
The move to the drying crates took place under optimal natural ventilation conditions. The racks in our drying lofts show perfectly intact clusters, with a steady, gradual loss of moisture — exactly what's needed to achieve an Amarone of great structure.
Outlook for the vintage
Looking ahead, the first fermenting musts are already releasing notes of crisp red fruit and sweet spices. We are confident this vintage will deliver an Amarone of great structure, yet with a contemporary drinkability and elegance.
"Wine is not made in the cellar, it is listened to in the vineyard. 2024 spoke to us of patience and resilience, giving us fruit of disarming purity."
It will be a vintage to remember. We can't wait to share it with you in the coming seasons, once the bottles begin their long rest in the cellar before reaching your homes.
